Frequently Asked Questions

- When to Consult Vaastu?
One should seek Vaastu Guidance when trying to buy a house or apartment. We can select the most propitious home for you. Although rarely apartments or houses are designed as per vaastu by the law of proportion some will be exactly as per vaastu. We can pick up the right one for you.
- When is the best time to adopt Vaastu?
While selecting plots and while the design of the house is still on the drawing board. At this time it is very easy to incorporate all Vaastu norms with out sacrificing aesthetics, comforts or economy of construction.
- Is not the natural topography the best?
Unfortunately no. Nature does not seem to have designed any thing keeping the comfort of the human organism. On the other hand it is the organism which modifies itself to suit nature. Vaastu is one such modification that is necessary when levels are considered.
- Vaastu Norms are violated how does it effect the flow of energy?
Before explaining the vaastu example let me tell about another phenomenon -If the antenna of your television set is not aligned to the relay station, how can you expect a clear picture? Elaborating further, when we sleep with our head towards the north, since, our head is considered the north of the body, there is repulsion between similar poles (Theory of Magnetism). The effect can be experienced physically as low or high blood pressure, insomnia, or a high level of cholesterol, signifying that our body is becoming vulnerable to minor blood disorders, which can be reduced by reversing the head position to the south.
- How Vaastu works?
Vaastu diktats help in achieving harmony between external energies such as heat, light, sound and so on which we are constantly receiving from our surroundings and internal energies that are commonly routed through our diet, sleeping habits and above all our thought process. A dissonance in internal energies reflects on our physical experience but mental unrest. When the internal and external are balanced, health, wealth and happiness unfolds.
- What are the avoidable directions and activities?
Avoid facing South while praying or eating, preferably do not keep your T.V. facing North. Housewives preferably should not face south while cooking.
- Where should I keep money in my Room?
Keep your money in a cupboard/ cash box, which is located in the south and opens towards the north because the north is direction of Kuber (God of Wealth) who represents wealth.
- Why directions are important in Vaastu Shastra?
The Sun, as our ancestor revealed long back is the only source of light and heat for human and other living being, from where we are able to live and feel the presence and direction of object. Therefore, the Sun, rising Sun is like a god, who gives us our essentials to live in, and the direction from where it is apparent to the entire world is taken as reference as the EAST direction. So the East direction is considered to the pious direction from where we get our main essentials. If we face the rising sun, the facing direction is called East, behind us shall be West, our left hand denotes North direction and right hand denotes South direction, therefore, the effect of the direction leads to its result to the building / house constructed therein.
- Where is my wealth corner? (New)
The eight basic directions of a house is characterized by Pakua according to the birth time of an individual. The corner pointed by the wealth direction is the wealth corner. The Pakua character cannot only apply to the entire house, it is true for every individual room also. Therefore, if the wealth corner of the house is out of your control, you can still work on the individual rooms.
- Should one correct all defects? It may not be possible and expensive too? (New)
Not necessary. Only prominent defects need to be corrected so that the energy flow changes for the better. The other defects can remain. If on the overall, a structure has a positive presence it will give good effect notwithstanding a few mistakes here and there.
- What is vastu?
Vastu, the Vedic spiritual science of architecture and design, is arguably the world's oldest holistic design system. Vastu shows us how to create personal spaces so that they honor the laws of the universe and establish harmony with the self and nature.
Vastu is also a sister science of yoga and ayurveda, the ancient science of wellness and longevity. While yoga and ayurveda focus on the body to improve our well being, vastu focuses on our surrounding environments to achieve the same goal. Kathleen Cox, the founder of Vastu Living, calls vastu yoga for the home.
Vastu asks us to:
- align our biorhythms with the universal rhythms in which the sun plays the most important role;
- respect our interconnection and interdependence with nature by welcoming it into our home;
- celebrate who we are and what we love in our home and workspace. This is equally critical in public spaces, such as hotel rooms and lobbies, which should honor guests and visitors.
- Where does vastu come from? How long has it been around?
Vastu originated in India during the Vedic Civilization, which some scholars believe flourished as early as 6000 B.C.
- What is Vastu Living?
Vastu Living is a modern adaptation of vastu designed for the Western lifestyle. To remove the possibility of error, Vastu Living introduces the use of the mind-body typing system of ayurveda, the ancient science of longevity popularized by Deepak Chopra, to determine the healthy design of personal spaces, such as the bedroom and often the work area, so that they reinforce an individual's needs.
- What are some of the benefits of Vastu Living?
Vastu Living introduces mindfulness and purpose into interior design. We intentionally observe the law of nature that says there is nothing random in the universe. Accordingly, there should be nothing random in our micro-version of the universe: our home and workspace. By following this simple rule, Vastu Living puts an end to clutter-the physical clutter that creates our mental clutter. Vastu Living creates spaces that speak to us clearly, without compromise.
--Vastu Living environments connect to us, deeply, and re-affirm our intrinsic relationship with nature. Nature is our ally. Its presence in our home or in any space increases our calm and decreases stress.
--Vastu Living environments reveal India 's lovely design aesthetic, which introduces asymmetry and allows rhythm, along with a lovely cohesion, to flow through a space. Asymmetry is just one of many ways in which Vastu Living environments connect to the human body. Think about it: your body is a perfect example of asymmetry (as is every object in nature); consequently, you feel more comfortable in spaces that are designed asymmetrically. This simple guideline enables Vastu Living to create spaces that appeal to the body and the eye.
